Karlovic tied record in aces

Karlovic tied record in aces Zagreb Indoors
Ivo Karlovic (pictured) had an amazing serving night once again as he hit 44 aces against Daniel Brands from Germany and equalled record in best-of-three match set by Mark Philippoussis from Australia. Karlovic won by 6:7 (4), 7:5, 7:6 (3) and did not drop serve during the entire match, losing only 12 points in total while serving.
Philippoussis delivered 44 aces against Byron Black from Zimbabwe in Kuala Lumpur in 1995.
"If I knew I had chance to break the record I would have served double fault at 6-3 in the tie-breaker", Karlovic said at the press conference.
During the last few games Ivan Ljubicic and Marin Cilic, among others, cheered on Twitter and counting aces. Surely info did not reach Karlovic until the end of the match.
"I am not allowed to follow Twitter while on the court", he said with big smile.
Karlovic was the lone Croatian player on Tuesday winning against German, with Borna Coric and Ante Pavic, both playing with wild cards, losing to Michael Berrer and Bjorn Phau respectively.
Recent US Open junior champion and one of the most promising players in the world, 17-years old Coric, lost to Berrer last year as well, winning only four games. This time was different and Berrer won only after big battle 6:4, 3:6, 6:4.
"I played really well today. His experience was crucial. I tried as much as I could and I hope I will learn something from this", Coric said, a bit dissapointed after failing to convert two consecutive break points when Berrer served for the match. "I played two awful returns", he added.
